The details of current and former students have been compromised due to the cyberattack. Of the total affected students, 9997 received a subsequent scam text claiming they had a parcel available and requesting payment for a customs fee. Now the university is working with the Office of the Victorian Information Commissioner to improve its cybersecurity.
The hacker downloaded the contact details of 46,980 students, accessing names, student IDs, mobile numbers, email addresses, and comments that included recent unit results.
